As some of you undoubtedly know, the BBHL is up for some fairly major changes, but all three of us co-commissioners believe that these changes will be in the best interest of the league.
We have decided to emulate the GMHL a little more by downsizing the league to 14 teams, so as of now the New Jersey and Colorado franchises will be disbanded. If you own any of the NJ or Col draft picks, you'll get to keep them.
This means we're going to have a dispersal draft to divvy up the assets of the disbanded franchises. We're going to have a four round snake draft to disperse the available players and the order of pick order will be randomized.
All three co-commissioners will run a random draft generator and we'll just total up all the numbers to determine where each GM picks. If there are any ties in the totals then the random draft order generated by Ryan will be used as the tiebreaker.
We will run the random draft generator over the next three days, one per day, so stay tuned. We're also looking at starting the dispersal draft on Friday around 6:00 p.m. if everyone is ok with that.
Since every team will have a few more assets available to them, we are going to increase the roster size to 46 total, of which no more than 26 can be pro players.

Just a couple other things that you all should be aware of.
Farm goalie eligibility has been changed to 75 NHL career or less before the start of the current season. This change in farm goalie eligibility is in effect at the beginning of the 2020-2021 BBHL season.
We put this change into effect so that it better reflects the longer development time that farm eligible goalies typically go through before having a regular opportunity in the NHL.
Not only does this put the BBHL in line with our sister league; it makes it easier to manage for the GMs that are in both leagues.

The other point I would like to cover concerns draft picks for the disbanded teams. As I said previously, every GM that owns a NJ or Col pick will be able to use that pick in the upcoming 2020 Entry draft. For 2021, the only GM affected is Hazen, who owns all 3 NJ picks next year.
The problem in trying to be fair to Hazen about where he can make the picks each round is trying to approximate where NJ would've likely have finished had we stayed at 16 teams next season.
After consulting Hazen, we decided that the best solution was to run the draft order generator with the 3 other teams that would've most likely finished in a similar overall position to NJ. We thought anywhere from the 5th to 8th overall pick was a fair approximation.
Somewhere in the near future, I'll run the draft generator using NJ, Tampa Bay, California and Edmonton to determine where NJ will pick in each round next year. Wherever Buffalo places when we generate this random draft order will determine where Hazen will make his NJ pick in each round in 2021.

My last drop was a goalie I'd been rostering for 3 years who just crossed the 50 game limit and we're in the middle of a draft and you just altered the value of goalies with zero warning this was being considered. This should be voted on and it absolutely should not be instituted immediately, we should have a full season to prepare to a change to player value like this.

This should be voted on and it absolutely should not be instituted immediately, we should have a full season to prepare to a change to player value like this. That's a fair question. It came about by virtue of a vote that wasn't even proposed until May 30, 2020, in our sister league, the GMHL, which is after you dropped your goalie. If you care to look, we've never really voted on much of anything in this league, other than 1 vote that I recall about the playoffs a couple of years back. You've trusted us to run the league in the best interests of everyone in the league, which we'll continue to do. Any changes that we have done have always been implemented the very next season; for example, increasing the roster size in a previous year and now again with the dispersal draft, changing the amount of weekly acquisitions, et cetera. As for this being the middle of a draft. That is really a bit of an overstatement as we just started this dispersal draft and no one would have picked a farm eligible goalie that just went over 50 GP in the first 4 picks. Will some one pick a goalie over 50 GP, but less than 75 GP later on; quite likely, which is why I wanted to get it out there now as opposed to after the draft. I thought I had a couple of more days to get this out there, but apparently there was a lot of interest to get started with the draft. This only affects a few goaltenders league wide and even though, admittedly, there wasn't much notice, you still have plenty of time to take this into account prior to making any additional selections in the dispersal draft. If you really want to add the goalie you dropped, I'm pretty sure he would be available to you whenever you would want to add him again. I apologize for the short notice, but it is better a little late than later on.
