When we disbanded the Colorado and New Jersey franchises last summer, there still remained a number of outstanding draft picks from the disbanded teams that were still owned by other teams. A lot of these picks were used in our 2020 Entry draft, but there are still the New Jersey picks in 2021 that must be dealt with.
There are no longer any picks from Colorado on our Future Draft Picks page. New Jersey had traded for Buffalo's 2021 3rd round pick, which won't be made, but is still showing so that everyone knows what happened to that pick.
Buffalo owns all 3 New Jersey picks for our 2021 Entry draft. We offered Hazen a couple of different choices and together we decided that there will be a random draw to see where the picks should be in each round. We had a look at New Jersey's team as well as the other teams that did not make the playoffs for the 2019-20 season. Our conclusion was that New Jersey, had it remained in the league, may have likely picked 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th overall.
Hazen agreed. I told him that I would do a draft order randomizer using New Jersey, California, Edmonton and Tampa Bay. Whatever order was generated would determine where the New Jersey picks would be in each round of the 2021 Entry draft. Hazen agreed; all there is left at this point is to run the draft order randomizer, which I will do shortly.

Here are the results of the draft order randomizer. The 3 New Jersey picks in the 2021 Entry Draft will be the 7th pick in each round.
